Inspired by the coast

inspiration from cornwall

I spend a lot of time in Cornwall with my family. The boys (my husband included!) are very happy when they're pottering on the beach, throwing stones in the sea, splashing around and eating far too many ice creams. And of course there are boats to play with too. What I enjoy most are those few serene moments that you're able to grab while they're busy entertaining themselves - those little moments when you can sit back and watch the oyster catchers wading up and down the estuary, or enjoy from afar the delight on the childrens' faces as they get stuck into a bit of crabbing action from the pontoon. And I really enjoy seafood too. There's nothing more civilised than some locally caught, fresh fish straight from the sea, enjoyed with a nice glass of refreshing wine. Bliss!

It's the moments like this that inspire my 'Beside the Sea' fabric designs and I just love bringing that little taste of Cornwall into the home. I think it's a look anybody can enjoy - you don't have to have a house by the sea, and you don't have to go over the top if you don't want to. An Oyster Catcher cushion here and there adds a little touch of the nautical but you can still mix it with other designs, dogs or country themed, for example.
